Just dance, don't be afraid!

Heather turned 16 last Saturday and we had a "16th Birthday Bash". Heather turned 16 the same weekend as 3 other kids in her ward turned 16. So we threw a huge fiesta for all of them! And boy did we rock it!
Prepping for the party. Ro did the hair, I was on makeup duty.
.
The kids played several games at the party. One was the "survey game" (I don't know if that is really what it was called, but it consisted of a survey and nothing else, so that's what we'll call it). When each kid arrived at the party, he or she had to fill out a survey (one for the boys, one for the girls). The survey was a page of questions like "what is your favorite type of food?", "what is your idea of a perfect date?", and "what is your best pick-up line?" The kids were instructed to not put their name on the sheet. After each person had filled one out, the 2 birthday boys took the "girls" surveys and each picked their top 3, and the 2 birthday girls did the same with the boys' surveys. The people who had answered the winning surveys got a prize.

After the "survey game" the kids played the dating game. Five eligible boys were picked from the group of fifty 16 year olds (there was really 50 of them, I counted). The 2 birthday girls were sent into a different room that was within ear shot. They each had a list of questions to ask the 5 boys. Each boy had a different person answer his questions so as to not give-away his identity. At the end of the round of questions, each girl chose the contestant with whom she wanted to go on a date with. The same process was then repeated with the 2 birthday boys and 5 eligible girlies. The 4 couples won an all expensive paid "first date package" put together by the parents. The 4 couples will go on a group date together for each of their first dates.

This is just 1/3 of all the kids there. My camera lens couldn't catch the span of kids. They were everywhere. 50, I'm not joking.

At the end of the night the kids played a game called "keys". There is really no technique or skill, or real point even, to this game. Boob, Ro, and I decided that it might as well be renamed "The game where deprived Mormon kids are allowed to get close to each other." Basically, one person holds a set of keys. Everyone else sits around that person in a big circle. The person with the keys calls a person from the circle, and that person has to come and somehow touch the person holding the keys. Then that person calls another person to come touch the key holder. And so the game continues, until these kids are literally piled on top of each other. When the person with the keys drops the keys, everyone has to scatter back to the outside of the circle. The last person to get back to the circle has to be the person in the middle with the keys.
Now, each person touching the key holder could very easily just lay one finger on the key holder, but for SOME reason, these kids had to be between legs, upside down, twisted around each other, and bending over backwards. I'm still confused.
The beginnings of one round of "keys". Notice the twisting, bending, and contorting.

The children scattering after the keys are dropped.

Boob, Ro, and I playing our own game of "keys". We had to understand the thrill.

With all the food, music, and games, the party was loads of fun. Happy Birthday Heff! I hope you had a super sweet 16!
